CASE STUDIES

AT&T Stadium (Home of Dallas Cowboys), Arlington, TX

Installation of wireless infrastructure in the AT&T Stadium was a large, complex project with some unique challenges. AFL was the installation contractor. As it always is with designs of this magnitude, the iBwave is never 100% complete. Several cables had to be changed to jumpers and vice-versa. Consequently, every one of these cables required numbering, documentation, and on-site testing. A running redline needed to be maintained for the purposes of documentation.

ECSite supported the contractor in managing the installation:

  • 2.6 million square feet project
  • Full project tracking for installation of all new cellular infrastructure
  • Testing of all coax, fiber, and equipment with photographs, test results, and all requisite reporting. Sweep and PIM testing were all tracked.
  • The project included over 2,000 coax cables, over 2,000 optical-to-RF remote converters, over 1,000 antennas, and over 22,000 SMF strands
  • Cables that were described as jumpers were assigned numbers, photographed, tested, and fully documented as soon as they were discovered. Often these new cables were only found when the test teams arrived.
  • These newly installed cables were added to the test plan immediately so testing teams were never delayed
  • Some locations were difficult to access so testing & documentation had to be first-time correct and completed very quickly. Testing teams were in and out in a minimum of time; the automation of project tracking eliminated manually noting result values.
  • A separate rigging-crew contractor installed twenty Matsing antennas, with ECSite tracking all installation and testing details, allowing a complete, centralized closeout.

“ECSite helped streamline the testing, closeout and the redlining process making the process very efficient.” — Jerry Conte, Sr. Director at AFL
